NEWSLETTER FOR FIRST TERM 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION

Our Esteemed Parent/Guardians,

We are grateful to God for bringing us successfully to the end of First Term of 2021/2022 academic session. It is indeed your cooperation and unending support that has brought us thus far. For this, we say thank you.

The school is vacating today, 17th December, 2021 for the Christmas holidays. Results for first term have been released to students who are not in any way indebted to the school. We implore parent to take time and study the results of their wards to indicate areas of weaknesses in the subject areas.

It has been observed that some parents do not show keen interest in the academic well being of their children. In this direction, the management has resolved that English and |Mathematics textbooks are compulsory for all the students from JSS1-SSS3. No student will be allowed to share textbooks and classroom locker anymore. We are therefore appealing to parent to use the holiday period to prepare the lockers and also make money available for the payment of the textbooks as no student will permitted to be in the class to receive lesson without a locker/the said textbooks.

Adiahaobong Girls Secondary School as the name implies is a girl institution and girls are expected to be exceptional in appearance and outlook. We will not tolerate students with unkempt uniform which does not speak well of the type of a girls child we intend to bring out of our students.

From next term, all the students must appear in their day uniform on Tuesday’s and Thursday. Materials for school uniform and day wears are sold in the school at the same price as it is sold in the market and also made in the school for the purpose of uniformity at affordable price.

HIGHLIGHTS OF ACTIVITIES DURING THE TERM

On the 2nd of November, 2021, Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor visited the school on a sensitization program tagged “Girls maintain your dignity”. It was a fine interactive session between our girls and Her Excellency. We also used the opportunity to highlight some of the pressing needs of the school like the provision of modern toilet facilities for staff and students and boarding facilities. She had approved the provision of modern toilet facilities and we still pressing forward for the hostel facility approval.

On the 15th December, the school hosted their Carol day celebration which has become the tradition of the school since the inception of this administration. The students displayed their talents in songs, recitations, dramas in line with the spirit of the season.

We also did the graduation ceremony for class 2021 graduates.

School resumes for second term 2021/2022 on the 10th of January, 2022. We wish to bring to the notice of parent the following:

1.   The decision taken at the last general PTA meeting for each parent to pay the PTA project funds of N2,000.00 per child still stands. We were unable to comply with the decision in first term due to non-conformity of parent.

2.   This amount includes the intervention money of N500.00. The N2,000.00 will be collected from the first day of reopening and after 2 weeks of grace, any student who have not paid will be sent home.

3.   The school intend to conduct inter-house sport competition between February and April, 2021 subject to approval of parents in the next general PTA meeting.

Please feel free to partner with us in any area regarding your ward’s academic performance so that together, we can bring the best in these young leaders of tomorrow.

The school whishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance. We love you. Thank you and God bless you.
